Dawlish warren is a small seaside town along the south coast of devon dawlish was originally a small fishing town / village .But after time developed in to a popular holiday destination because of its coastline, its located just between another seaside town called Teignmouth and the devon city of Exeter. Dawlish is also unique due to its railway design,The population of dawlish warren is roughly around 13000.
There are many ways in which the council of Devon have taken action to protect the beach of sidmouth, there protection Plans contains mainly hard engineering.This includes A seawall which prevents erosion, and has been a very succesfull way to reduce this coastal problem.However has the down side of not looking to attractive and appealing.also there is Rock amour This method helps by Reducing the energy of the waves which would of wared the beach away over time .The other form of coastal Protection is gabions,this is a form of wire meshing which sits on and protects the cliff from losing any shoft rock and to stop it falling on the public and beach,This is a type of soft engineering,and is at more cheaper Cost .
Sidmouth Beach Devon
a substainble settlement is economic,enviromental and socail place, an example of this could be BedZed or other wise known as Beddington Zero Energy Development , which is placed in Hackbridge London ,this developement is the largest in the uk ,Its substainable due to the fact it doesnt use central heating or air conditioning, it locks in heat in the winter months and stays cool during the summer months.This is down to its
Architecture and its solid constuction of thick walls,Naturual light and heat is camputured to store it and keep the homes warm in the winter months.all hot water and most of the energy comes from central unit on development this is fueld by wood chippings which if not used would of gone into waste.all homes roofs are coverd in a speacail grass this does the job sucking in rain water ,which they then use for toilet flush water.

this will incourage more people to cycle to work instead of driving or cathcing public transport &+ is a cheaper more planet friendly way of transportation.

this will help reduce congestion on our citie streets whilst cutting back on CO2 omissions &+ will help with your socail skills.
.Public transport
tube,train,bus,This is a more cheaper way of transportation whilst cutting down in congestion &+ may be quicker due to bus lanes,and the high speed from a train or the tube,You will also be helping &+ supporting your local cummunity by using these facilities.
.Park &+ Ride
this will help reduce congestion in the cicties centres, and will be cheaper and the reasurance your vechiele being in a safe place.
.Walking
a healthy way of transportation,it will cut back on congestion and a free way of transsport
Exeter's C.B.D,Zone of decay and zone of improvement:
The C.B.D, of the capital city of Devon [Exerter].Is were the historical Cathedral is as you can see in the 1st picture below.Also the C.B.D is were more of the franchiese shops and restraunts are beacuse they are they are the only companys that can afford the rent prices,Right next to Exeters C.B.D we have the Zone of improvement were only just recently 3 to 4 years ago the princess hay shoping complex and flat accomodation was developed were even more fashion reatailers and restraunt fanchieses are.I feel this is a great way to atrract more visiters.On the other hand i feel this a bad idea due to the smaller and more inderpendant buisnesses may suffer.Also only a few yards away from the zone of improvement there is the zone of decay were the smaller and independant buisnesses are .This area is run down and has more of a saddend vibe the buildings are more dated,dirty,and dark. Most of thesse buisneses are suffering due to the current economical crisis and the new development of the princess hay taking main custom.

The location of exeter
The location of exeter is in the heart of the rural county devon,Which is famous for its cream teas and clotted cream.Exeter is without doubt one of the Uk's leading cities.Cosmopolitan, modern and historic it boasts wonderful culture, nightlife, heritage and redevelopement.It's location in Devon sets it close to Devon's many beaches,Counrtyside,And the city itself is full of cafes,Restaraunts and shops so theres something to please everyone.Exeter is just of the m5 to the right were you can find industrail buildings.Exeter has its own international airport.
Urban redevelopment
i think the term Urban redevelopment means to redevelope an old building or deprived area into something,modern,new,and young such as the docklands of london.
why Exeter City Council decided to redevelop Princesshay
i feel the reason why Exeter city council decided to redevelop this area was because,it was deprived,dated and a zone of decay and was behinde by atleast 2 decades and needed updating.To compete with other citys shopping centres such as ,Cribbs causeway,broadmead,plymouth ect...,I think this will also bring in more of the public to spend money in Exerter and will help the more smaller businesses which is needed at the momemt with the ecomonical crisis.I think Exeter city council did a great job at redeveloping this former zone of decay (:

I started noticing wellingtons changes Over 6 months ago when i heard that there was to be new homes to be built.Just out the town center ,towards chelston roundabout [cades farm & vitoria green] , This could bring an uprise in wellingtons population and attract new people to the town which will be good for local buisnesses.Also there has been a dramatic change in the cheslton rounabout area with there new industrail site being built in the past 10 years and very recently in the past 2 -3 months the Renault garage being moved to there ,There has also been a new developeing site which is placed opposite the traffic lights near longforth garage.which has rumoUred to be a waitrose i feel this is a good idea due to there affulent customers which will aslo help out other local small businesses.A new bakery greggs has opend in the town center which i feel has plus and down sides.On the plus side theres cheaper food and a bigger variety,on the down side effecting local business which have been in wellington for a longer period of time.

How is Taunton changing:
because i dont live in Taunton its hard for me to see the changes But im going to start with the obvious ones .The main one which has catched my eye is the new deveolpment on corporation street oposite mega bingo which is Next to the old libary which is being turned into flats,shops,and a restraunt, which i think is a good idea it makes taunton look young and fresh.Another recent devolpment is the laura ashley and bath store near bellverdere road i dont fell this is to great beacuse its on the out scurts of the town center and people wont make the effort to travel the distance when there are other retailers in town which sale the same simular kind of products.Yet another change is the new flats near the cricket ground and docks, these seem for the higher class or''dinkies'' [Double income no kids] due to the price and position in taunton.The park and ride has also been a new change with helping those who work in taunton and the enviormently freindly side of it.
